TRANSFIGURING

solo exhibition (2019)

Transfiguring is an ongoing personal project examining the feelings of anxiety, depression, self discovery and how in the process we find ourselves in the essence of absurdity. By using fragments of memories, figures, personal artifacts, and metaphors my paintings take a surreal and symbolic approach to display these feelings. On the notion of self discovery, I share Robert Penn Warren’s sentiment, “The self is a style of being, continually expanding in a vital process of definition, affirmation, revision, and growth, a process that is the image, we may say, of the life process of a healthy society itself.” My artworks are my visual notes processing life and an attempt to deal with depression, and life, in a more meaningful way.
